The Enterprise Architect wears many hats at the Franklin County Data Center, including - but not limited to - business analysis, project management, architectural design, engineering, support, and client communication. No two days are the same, and projects range in size and complexity. This role frequently meets with both FCDC engineering teams as well as agency partners, helping to bridge the communication between both, ensuring FCDC can deliver solutions that meet or exceed the client's needs. Key accomplishments include: - Implemented an SD-WAN solution to provide resilient connectivity to numerous Sheriff sites to support a new body-worn camera initiative. - Developed a plan to replace an aging network switching access layer. - Orchestrated dozens of Wi-Fi network installations/upgrades, including: > Creating predictive Wi-Fi designs > Pre-deployment of Wi-Fi network settings to endpoints to ensure a smooth transition to a standard Wi-Fi configuration > Work with internal and external teams for access point / cabling installation per county standards > Perform validation Wi-Fi surveys to confirm proper coverage - Continually create and update internal documentation for engineering teams. - Developed and executed a technology plan for two new RV-style vehicles used for community outreach, ensuring multiple county agencies can better support constituents in the field, and provided training for both the client and FCDC support teams to ensure a good experience for all. - Designed and implemented an SD-WAN solution for a partner agency that operates independent of the larger county network, while ensuring the solution can be monitored and managed by FCDC engineers.
Quickly rolled out GlobalProtect VPN company-wide at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure our staff could continue to work remotely, including ongoing enhancements to make things run more smoothly. Prior to the pandemic, I had been managing the IT portions of our Austin, Texas division office move. Ultimately I wound up conducting the move single-handedly, including disconnection of the network equipment, moving it to the new office, rack-and-stack in the new office, verifying everything was operational, and managing day-one support activities with no major issues. I'm currently performing wireless site surveys at all of our remote offices to enhance the stability and reliability of the corporate wireless infrastructure, am in the early stages of enhancing our Wi-Fi security, and am looking at options to increase the speed and reliability of our WAN.
Systems engineer generalist role with a focus on networking and project management. Key accomplishments include: - Deployed and implemented a Meraki SD-WAN solution. - Deployed and implemented Palo Alto NGFWs at over a dozen remote offices. - Orchestrated the move of the corporate data center to a co-location facility to increase overall systems up-time and reliability at a reduced operating cost. - Earned the Corporate Excellence Award for 2019. - Planned and executed a move of a small regional office. - Planned and executed moves of two mid-sized division offices. - Played a key role in the move of the corporate headquarters to new construction, including network and server room configuration.
Negotiate IT hardware and telecommunications agreements to maximize savings efforts. Notable achievements include negotiating $300K savings on the purchase of a new network load balancing environment and $500K savings in a multi-year support agreement for a contact center platform. Worked on a small team to implement SAP Ariba in the environment, focusing on process documentation and internal training efforts.
Responsible for managing the IT infrastructure for the company, including the Infrastructure team. Manage infrastructure budgeting/spending, contracts/maintenance, and day-to-day operations. Coordinated and managed the IT portion of the company's recent headquarters move into a new 55,000 square foot office space, including ISP circuit moves/additions and move of core network/IT infrastructure. The move was executed over a holiday weekend and the company was able to resume work the next business day with almost no service interruption.
Provide server and network management support for the company. Primary job functions include ongoing maintenance of the company's systems management platforms (Altiris 7.5 and Casper Suite), antivirus platform (Symantec Endpoint Protection), whole disk encryption platform (PGP), Microsoft Lync 2013, and maintenance on the company's Cisco switched network. Major goals/tasks/accomplishments include: • Implemented SolarWinds Web Help Desk ticketing system, migrating 4+ years of existing data from former ticketing system (Altiris Help Desk 6.5). • Implemented JAMF Software's Casper Suite for Apple endpoint management. Provided ongoing third-tier support as well as regular upgrades and maintenance of the system. • Enhanced the company'd BYOD initiative and coordinated the migration from Good Link to MaaS360 mobile device management (MDM) platform to allow for corporate e-mail access and mobile application deployment while ensuring company data remains secure and encrypted. • Spec'd, procured, configured, and deployed network infrastructure for new Chicago branch office. Moved office staff from temporary office space into the permanent office over a weekend, and provided on-site first day support with no major issues. • Enhanced several business processes including onboarding, offboarding, and account change activities by creating automated workflows with Symantec Workflow Solution 7.5
Served as an Altiris Administrator, ensuring proper operation and functionality of a 32,000 node environment that spanned the globe. Primarily focused on the maintenance and upkeep of the core Altiris environment and worked closely with the Risk Management Team to conduct routine patching of of all managed endpoints. Assisted with M&A activities in relation to capturing inventory of new environments and bringing them in compliance with corporate IT standards. Other duties included providing customized SQL-based reports and software installation/upgrades using the Altiris environment.
