I am passionate about utilizing my experience in environmental policy, land use, and transportation planning to create equitable and sustainable places. I am similarly compelled to plan for a climate resilient future that furthers environmental justice and maximizes multimodal public access to the coast.     Appointed by Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer and confirmed by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to represent District 3 on the County Community Action Board. District 3 encompasses the coastal zone and extends into some inland portions of the County - stretching from Carlsbad down to Coronado, including portions of San Diego (Little Italy, La Jolla, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Point Loma, etc). The Community Action Board (CAB) is the Citizen Advisory Board to the County of San Diego and the Health and Human Services Agency on Community Action Partnership (CAP) programs — required by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Act. The Board of Supervisors assigned the following powers, duties, and responsibilities to the Board. - Establish processes for planning, allocation, and public hearings regarding the use of Community Action funds. - Review policies relating to program of the Community Action Partnership, and recommend to the Board of Supervisors the adoption of such policies as it may deem necessary and desirable. - Supervise the administration of all financial policies, regulations and standards pertaining to community programs. - Participate in the development and implementation of all programs and projects designed to serve the economically disadvantaged or low-income areas to assure maximum feasible participation of residents of the areas and members of groups served. - Provide a forum for the economically disadvantaged and concerned residents to allow a mechanism for securing broad community involvement in the programs.

    The State Coastal Conservancy’s Explore the Coast (ETC) grant program seeks to provide coastal experiences for people and communities who face challenges accessing and enjoying the coast (“ETC Priority Communities”). ETC Priority Communities include lower-income individuals and households, people with disabilities, people of color, immigrant communities, and foster youth, among others. The Advisory Board counsels Conservancy staff on the application process, including scoring and the ongoing delivery of the program. Since 2013, the Conservancy has awarded over $18.2 million in 296 separate Explore the Coast grants (updated October 2022).
