A scientist interested in tackling future challenges in infectious disease. I want to understand biological processes not just for the fun of it, but also to use these insights and bring them into practice. If you are looking for a scientist with a broad interest that can collaborate across disciplines, I am always in the mood for good coffee and an even better conversation.
In the lab of Suzan Rooijakkers, I studied how complement proteins in serum can kill bacteria by forming pores in their cell envelope. This research can help guide the development of immune therapy against bacterial infections.
In the lab of Michael Carroll, I studied how complement proteins contribute to forming immunological memory by trafficking antigens to the lymph nodes. This is important to understand how long-lasting immunity is achieved. I did this internship under the supervision of prof. dr. Michael Carroll and Dr. Cees van der Poel.
