About

I am a hands-on fiber laser R&D and production expert specializing in project execution and technical team leadership with 10+ years of Industrial and R&D experience. My focus is on making things work - building lasers from scratch, resolving production bottlenecks, and developing focused, result-oriented technical teams. Most of my experience centers on bridging the "Lab-to-Fab" gap, taking complex fiber laser systems from R&D into scalable, high-yield production. My core areas of focus are manufacturing readiness, quality control, and continuous process improvement. Supported by an MS in Laser Engineering and a PhD, I possess the technical depth to collaborate seamlessly with R&D on design changes, managing the execution of optical simulations (including COMSOL and Zemax), and SolidWorks-based mechanical and thermal design tasks to turn complex laser concepts into practical solutions. I am equally comfortable stripping and splicing fibers in the morning, then executing DFX reviews with clients and supply chain partners in the afternoon. Key Achievements in Numbers * Latest Technical Milestone: Developed and assembled high-power fiber laser prototypes, including a 1064 nm CW Narrow-Linewidth Single-Mode at 3.2 kW (mitigating thermal effects, SBS and TMI) and a 1950 nm CW Single-Mode laser at 425 W. * Leadership & Scale-up: Led the manufacturing scale-up to deliver 450 devices across 3 experimental product models (including CW Thulium medical-grade lasers, 623 nm 10 W fiber lasers, and Ytterbium picosecond experimental seeds) with a team of 10 people in 18 months. Core Competencies & Skills: * R&D & Design Management: High-power (kW-class) amplifier design, specialty active fiber handling (LMA), non-linear optical mitigation (SBS, SRS, TMI), and beam delivery. * Metrology, Production, Test: Fiber Splicer, Cleaver, Recoater, Optical spectrum analyzers (OSA), Beam profiling, Power meters, Power supplies, Oscilloscopes, PD detectors and custom environmental stress screening setups. * Modeling & Simulation Oversight: Defining technical requirements and managing specialized tasks in COMSOL, Zemax, SolidWorks (mechanical and thermal design). * Manufacturing & NPI: Phase-Gate development, Design for Manufacturability (DFX) * Quality & Product Health: First Pass Yield (FPY) optimization, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), systematic root-cause investigations, and RMA resolution. * Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborative communication across R&D, Operations, QA, Sales, and Global Supply Chain teams.
