I am an ardent seeker of what it means to be truly human – celebrating our vibrant and life-giving power as individuals and a collective, embracing our profound vulnerability and mortality, mourning our pathologies and brokenness, and everything in between.
I am researching how the returnees of the 6th century BCE from Babylon viewed the notion of "a homeland" in the Second Temple texts of the Old Testament using a multidisciplinary approach.
Time off to complete my studies in preparation for my next step turned out to be a year of preparing and starting full-time motherhood alongside.
Apart from building upon my work in the previous role, I provided hands-on oversight to staff and volunteers for the Christian Education department and the church library. I also facilitated the launch of several digital or mixed media initiatives: Zoom classes, audio and visual exhibition of the Stations of The Cross, audio readings of a church devotional project.
I revised, designed, and provided instruction to various curriculum on the Bible, prayer, and the Christian life. Connected to this, I also managed a team of volunteer instructors for the various courses available. I introduced courses that were pertinent to the equipping needs of the church such as on spiritual companionship, the Prayer Course, the study on The Psalms, as examples. I also built a culture of volunteerism among participating students to foster a greater sense of belonging in the church.
I coordinated events and managed volunteer teams toward participation in civic and political participation in issues on anti-corruption, poverty alleviation, Orang Asli land rights, and electoral reform. I also organised workshops, seminars, and exhibitions to raise awareness on human rights issues, the elimination of racial discrimination, the Malaysian constitution, citizen responsibility in civil participation. I was also involved in the team to raise homelessness issues in Kuala Lumpur with DBKL and the Ministry of Federal Ministeries.
I returned to REHDA as a full fledge public relations officer where I coordinated and executed various media stories and events. I was also involved in speechwriting, and participated in various government meetings on policy-making including PEMANDU, and continued to conduct research for industry outlook briefings.
