Facilitated the launch of the Hospital Elder Life Program (H.E.L.P.) in two units of the hospital. The program has been so successful it is now found on four units plus the emergency department. Trained new volunteers and externs.
Delivered arts, music and games programs, and supported Sisters who required assistance. Developed relationships with Sisters through one-on-one visits and programs. Taught fitness classes.
Taught exercise classes that met the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging guidelines at various seniors' social centres, long-term care homes and on-site at Davenport-Perth. Created classes with functional exercises to help older adults remain strong and active in their daily lives and in their communities.
Responsible for assessing travellers at Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport as per requirements of the Quarantine Act. Worked as part of a team to manage and triage long line-ups to facilitate the movement of travellers through the airport. Ensured travellers had a valid quarantine plan or proper documentation for exemption. Assisted in welcoming and assessing Afghan refugees on special flights from Afghanistan.
Researched, authored, edited news stories, features, special supplements and marketing materials. Founded Flavour Mavens. Promoted the magazine at trade shows, symposia and conferences. Collaborated with publishers and editors on editorial planning and throughout the design and editing process.
