  • Founding Engineer and Director at Ooooby

Ooooby is a social business focussed on enabling communities to build and develop their own local food systems. As director, I make key decisions regarding the direction of Ooooby and deciding how we can best use our assets to facilitate the expansion of the local food movement while remaining a profitable, viable business. In my time here we have increased customer numbers 10-15 times, launched in two more countries, and maintained a very low-cost, efficient operation that is viable despite low margins. As CTO, I identify technical requirements by looking at the existing packing and delivery operations and see how digital tools can be used to save time and reduce errors. To date I have built web-based tools that are used for; - customer and subscription management with customer access, 'do-not-want' lists, once-off or recurring purchases, and more - creating detailed packing instructions, labels and delivery maps for packing days - automatic credit card billing to keep accounts up to date - updating and adding products, setting product promotion level, recording and displaying product details - recording recipes for public access with search and ingredient tagging - viewing detailed reports on sales, customer numbers and growth rates - various other marketing, delivery, and management tasks These tools are built to be used with multiple hubs in different locations with role-based access to various features and individual customer bases.
