Dr. David Weill is the former Director of the Center for Advanced Lung Diseases and the Lung and Heart-Lung Transplant Program at Stanford University Medical Center. A renowned expert in advanced lung diseases and transplantation, Dr. Weill now advises transplant programs nationwide, helping them improve patient care and clinical outcomes. Over the course of his career, Dr. Weill has testified before the United States Senate and Texas State Legislature on matters related to asbestos exposure, public health, and environmental policy. He has authored numerous medical publications and led research initiatives, including a landmark study on asbestos exposure in Libby, Montana. He chaired the international Monticello Conferences on elongated mineral particles, later serving as Managing Guest Editor for the conference proceedings published in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology and Environmental Research. Dr. Weill is also the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board for the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association and a board member for GlycosBio and TransMedics, a leader in organ care systems. Dr. Weill brings his expertise to several nonprofit boards, including the Board of Governors at Tulane Medical School, Xavier University of Louisiana, SFJAZZ, the Isidore Newman School, and NextGen Personal Finance. Dr. Weill is also an author of Exhale and All That Really Matters and his new nonfiction title, Tell Me I Belong: Family, Faith, and My Search for Identity, will be released Dec 9, 2025. His writing explores the human side of medicine, ethics, and personal transformation.
