Since 2001, David has practised with solicitors' firms in Dublin, Cork and Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. He became the principal of David Peters Solicitors (formerly O'Malley & Co) Nenagh in 2011. The firm has grown consistently since 2011 and is located in Nenagh town centre, the commercial hub of north Tipperary and 30 minutes from Limerick City. He was appointed State Solicitor for Tipperary North in August 2024. His main practice areas are: criminal prosecutions for the DPP and the State, property sales and purchases, farm transfers and medical negligence & personal injury claims. He was awarded a Masters in Laws in Human Rights in Criminal Justice (First Class Hons) from UL in Jan 2022 and a Law Society Diploma in Judicial Skills and Decision Making in Nov 2023. David is an associate faculty member of the Law Society of Ireland where he tutors trainee solicitors in criminal law. He has a particular interest in the law governing covert surveillance which formed the basis for his LLM thesis.

David spent two years post qualification in this city centre frim honing his skills as a solicitor in a busy general practice. As well as engaging in conveyancing and probate matters he also advocated for clients before the District and Circuit Family Courts, the Employment Appeals Tribunal and the former Garda Complaints Tribunal.
