About

David Hoffert is a technology policy professional who currently leads AI regulation advocacy work for Epic Systems Corporation, the world's largest provider of Electronic Health Records software. He holds master's degrees from Stanford University in public policy and mechanical engineering, and bachelor's degrees from the University of Wisconsin in mechanical engineering and computer science. He uses this background and experience to sit right at the intersection of technology and policy: able to talk to engineers and understand how technology actually works, then turn around and translate that to policy audiences and develop appropriate policy proposals for it. Prior to working for Epic, David served as a non-profit Executive Director, managed hospital reimbursement for the Wisconsin Medicaid program, and taught economics and computer science. David also volunteers as an on-air talent for PBS Wisconsin, and has previously served as President of the Board of a local independent school, an assistant coach for a high school speech and debate team, and president of multiple neighborhood associations. He has mounted two unsuccessful campaigns for Madison City Council. He has extracurricular interests in the arts, and is the author of four musical parodies: The Scroll of Purim; The Purim Queen; Hamanstown, a Purim Tale; and Merrily We Celebrate Purim.
