While at Datacom successfully managed projects from requirements gathering right through ongoing support using both Agile and standard waterfall methodologies for a wide range different technologies and government agencies. Examples include:- TSB - Successful project managed several projects for TSB:- SWIFT Gateway: Transitioning from a remote gateway to a local gateway to enable TSB to support 7 days payments. I managed the outsourcing of the service to Datacom support. SWIFT Messaging: Enabling the transition and ongoing processes for transferring funds using the new format of SWIFT payment messages. ATM message upgrade: Design, build, testing and implementation of the PNZ compliant format of messaging for ATMs. VeriFone messages: Enabled the direct receipt of VeriFone payment messages into the TSB back-office systems. Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) IVL – The introduction of a new system to manage the application, payment and issuing of visas for visitors to New Zealand for Immigration NZ o Managed a team of seven people who were a mix of Developers, Business Analysts and Testers. o Requirements gathering and understand of the business process and value o Development of a new website o Testing and user acceptance o Deployment and go live o The project was run to a strict government drop dead date to introduce the new Visa so tight change control and Risk Management was required throughout o The site went successfully live to budget and before the deadline (see https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/preparing-a-visa-application/your-journey-to-new-zealand/before-you-travel-to-new-zealand/paying-ivl
Senior Project Manager in the Datacom PMO for Cloud, Network and Security offering commodity Technology as a Services to the NZ Government. Electricity Authority onboarding: Managed the onboarding from a legacy environment into DCSG of a new customer within tight timescales and agreed budget. The project involved a manual migration of firewall rules to a new managed firewall, lift and shift of physical hardware, re-racking and cabling. The go live weekend had to be carefully planned and tightly managed to ensure all systems could be migrated, tested and accepted by the customer within the agreed outage window. I was the central point of management for the full migration including the customer’s application teams and all their 3rd party suppliers (see www.whatsmynumber.org.nz and www.ea.govt.nz). I also managed successful migration projects for MPI. MPP and the DIA.
Snapper was a small, fast moving, innovative and agile company which gave me the opportunity to prove my adaptability by performing some varied and dynamic roles including Project Manager, Agile Product Owner and Support Manager. Cable Car - Managed the implementation of Wellington’s first ever gated ticketing solution using agile iterations and delivery phases. Total Mobility - Launch of a grass roots system across all of Canterbury to use travelcards for Total Mobility passengers. Snapper Parking – The first ever New Zealand implementation of using travel cards to pay for Parking. Snapper Mobile – Several releases of the Snapper reload Android mobile application. Snapper Services Website – Launch of a new website (see www.services.snapper.co.nz) From March 2014 I took on the additional responsibility of running Snapper’s 2nd line support service desk responsible for the smooth running of all Snapper’s systems.
Project managed a portfolio of projects as part of a £20M London Olympics transformation programme to introduce the use of credit cards for smart card ticketing on London buses. My part in this successfully programme was commended in a letter from TfL’s Director of Ticketing and led Cubic to renew my contract 8 times (See www.tfl.gov.uk/oyster)
Project managed a varied portfolio of projects including rescuing the delivery of an on-line Gateway web portal which integrated directly into the back office systems, enabled customers to perform end to end transactions. Delivery of this project resulted in being awarded a bonus for outstanding performance and project delivery for 2008.
Project managed a wide range of different projects including the successfully management of a £200K project to introduce electronic ticketing for live shows to the BBC Audience department. The project integrated an on line web portal with the back office ticketing system and hand held card readers. The project enabled a head count reduction of 20% saving £80K per year and greatly improved the quality audience profiling.
