Advanced controls engineer responsible for configuring, purchasing, programming and commissioning PLC devices and controls in web handling environments. Additionally, I am currently co-leading the Rockwell-3M collaboration team where I manage Rockwell licenses, training and general Rockwell questions for a 100+ engineer department.
Coordinated Drive System Field Startup Engineer at Rockwell Automation. My role is to look beyond the explicit specifications and requirements – to fully understand the customer’s real-world use cases. Recognized inconsistencies between the customer requirements and the defined architecture. Pulled all sides together to correct the issues in communication to create a fully safe and functional system. Noticed the customer had bought non-standard parts that would create future intermittent issues. Brought this to the attention of the customer and our team – the proper parts were procured and installed, leading to another successful system. My style is focused on communication – creating consistent and clear communication within and between teams. Emphasis on validation and alignment saves time, reduces budget issues, and increases customer satisfaction. To that end, I ask a lot of questions and I work to minimize assumptions on all sides. I also work to teach teammates and partners if necessary to further reduce risk and miscommunication. I take pride in helping where I can.
Functioning as both an engineer and maintenance team member, discovered and fixed software, hardware and communication issues. Assisted in the installation of two new production lines, increasing facility production by 50%. Solved an intermittent production jam problem by understanding the flow, failure mode and implementing an optimized solution by using new sensor hardware and augmenting the software. Increased production and reduced downtime and waste.
Responsible for addressing the gaps between the information in the mix of schematics and the data the field needed for correct execution. Process included consolidating, condensing, and making coherent the critical information needed by the field. Optimized lighting and efficiency and effectiveness in a transit area via modeling. Resulted in an improved working conditions for no additional cost. Expanded knowledge from design to manufacturing to the complete customer workflow execution.
Assigned a concept-only project automating a previously manual multiple PCB board bus mapping, using Cadence Allegro software. Learned PCB design technology, terminology and process in order to understand issues and desired outcome. Executed 200+ tutorials and on-going alignment with the CAD team to develop a consistently effective solution. Utilizing new process, saved 30+ hours for each board revision while simultaneously reducing the risk of errors; new process is now fully adopted by PCB designers and management.
