Performed troubleshooting, testing, and repair of Motorola VHF and UHF pagers. Assisted in finding solutions of repair parts no longer available from Motorola. Accomplishments · Designed a modification for Motorola Minitor 2, 3, and 4 pagers that allowed us to narrow band customer pagers. I designed the modification, documented it and laid out the PC board. 30 days. · Designed a replacement for Minitor charging contacts pcb. · Worked out the details for converting standard charging cradle to allow its use for programming Minitor pagers using a USB interface.

I improved the design by installing the parts in sockets, resulting in greatly reduced repair expenses. · Routinely handled calls from customers and found solutions that solved their problems. · Decreased by 70% the number of spare parts that we were required to stock by eliminating unneeded items and limiting the list to items that could replace multiple part numbers. · Cut unprofitable replacement test cable orders by 50% by suggesting and implementing a bulk discount, which was approved by management.
Maintained and modified equipment production photograph processing equipment. Accomplishments · Designed an exposure control unit used in the print-to-print process that increased exposure accuracy 10 fold and cut the portion of pictures needing to be reprint by one third. Solution had to interface to existing equipment and the installations had to be reversible to the original configuration. · Designed a stepper motor retrofit that was transparent to the end use but resulted in the average time between paper feed system maintenance from every other week to one or twice a year. · Designed and implemented a solution to replace obsolete photo lamp power supplies, cutting the cost by 25% and lengthening the bulb life from an average of 2 weeks to 6 months.
