Greater Toronto Area, Canada
As a lifelong learner, I endeavor to serve the students, staff and parents of my community in striving to achieve academic excellence and personal well-being. I am a visible leader who is approachable, fair and responsive to the needs of the community at all levels. Through my daily positive presence on the schoolyard, open door policy, and efficient communication style, I am an approachable leader that all stakeholders feel comfortable seeking assistance from in areas of curriculum, discipline or personal matters. I am fair, through my use of progressive discipline and in accordance with board policy and procedure, so that diverse community members feel confident knowing they will be treated justly and with respect. The result is a school and community culture that is ready to come to the table engaged with the same coherent goal of student success. In the area of academic achievement, I bring a lens that uses data to drive instruction. I take the time to understand the strengths of my staff and to support them in their areas of need so that they can fall in line with best practices. I value moving student achievement through proper use of the assessment loop. I use data, both historical and current to drive instruction and justify my choices as a leader. With respect to well-being, equity presentations, character education assemblies, restorative practice training and conversations with staff and students are just some of the ways I help make our community a positive inclusive space in which success is possible and all members feel welcomed, heard, valued and supported. Each day I walk my talk, though my own continual development and learning as a leader. I am continually refining my skills and practices and as such encourage those who surround me to do the same. From setting direction to sitting at the table as a lead learner, I do not hesitate to roll up my sleeves and do what needs to be done. I am the calm professional presence that I want to see in my staff.
Responsible for community success and well-being, my primary foci are Math & FI student achievement and teacher development. Safe Schools and Student Behaviour/Progressive Discipline are also portfolios that I manage. I excel at many administrative tasks including timetables, supply teacher bookings and weekly staff updates.
