As a qualified and experienced Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer with over 18 years experience, I have gained substantial project management expertise in the UK and Australia in areas covering Rail Infrastructure, Rail industry research, Engineering, Asset & Facilities Management and Public Utilities. I have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the UK rail industry and a detailed knowledge of project management software systems, and in addition, excellent stakeholder management skills.
Notsa Consulting is my own project management consulting company providing project management services to the UK Rail industry. Roles undertaken include: • Client side project management of the delivery of Network Rail’s £64m Wessex Main Suburban train lengthening programme. A multi-disciplinary project providing Signalling, Pway (Track), Civil, traction power, general light and power design and alterations to facilitate the running of 10 car train sets on an existing 8 car railway. • Client side project management of the delivery of Network Rail’s £16m Tilbury Loop train lengthening programme. A multi-disciplinary project providing Signalling, Pway, Civil, traction power, general light and power design and alterations to facilitate the running of 12 car train sets on an existing 8 car railway.
GHD is an international network of engineers, architects and environmental scientists serving clients in the global markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation. The role included: • Client side project management of the development of the outline design of Network Rail’s £40m Wessex train lengthening programme for the Windsor, Hounslow, Chertsey and part of the Epsom lines. • Successfully developed a level crossing barrier down time model for Network Rail to determine impact of proposed timetable changes on level crossing closure times across the proposed Airtrack route. Model outputs are designed to inform the public consultation document for the BAA Airtrack project. • Client side project management of the Network Rail Fast-track team successfully delivering GRIP 3 option selection reports on a wide range of infrastructure projects. These include: - £64m Wessex 10 car train lengthening project for Main Suburban routes. - NSIP (National Station Improvement Programme) projects. - Various sidings and line improvement projects. • Secondment into Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) for the project management of R&D in engineering projects included tender reviews, drafting justification/business case documents for approval, review of project progress, final acceptance management and deliverable dissemination. These included: - Development of a business case for the funding of a 3 year testing regime of possible 3rd Generation DMU drive train technology at a likely project cost in excess of £5m. - Project management of aerodynamic effects projects, including pantograph sway, platform edge risks etc. • Project management of a review of Irish Rail and Veolia’s safety case for the Rail Safety Commission (RSC) - Ireland. • Team member for the asset management review of Tubelines’ and Metronet’s policies and practices on behalf of LUL.
