(Geismar Chemical Plant) Developed sourcing strategies, negotiated contracts, and facilitated post-award continuous improvement to maximize value and manage risk for categories of 3rd party OPEX spend.
Utilized DMAIC project framework to create a harmonized global process for product donations across J&J’s 14 key operating companies and regional business sectors. Measured current state processes and identified solutions to reduce cycle time, address Pain Points, and streamline process inefficiencies in the harmonized Future State Process. Realized an estimated 57% reduction in total cycle time, 75% reduction in total touch time and created control initiatives including detailed implementation plans with timeframes and DRIs. Conducted 68 interviews with internal SMEs and external NGO partners to create 36 process maps capturing current state process steps, swimlanes, triggers, reworks, and time data. Collected Voice of Customer and Voice of Business to identify major stakeholder pain points, improve communication and engagement, and optimize process execution. Coordinated workshop at J&J headquarters with more than 30 participants from OPCOs, NGO partners, and J&J business sectors. Affinitized and prioritized 103 total pain points, conducted Root Cause Analysis, generated more than 30 key solutions for improvement, and created a harmonized Future State Process map. Collaborated with J&J IT division to design globally accessible portal with a system for product donations. Identified key system capabilities required to realize maximum process improvements. Created documentation templates and ideal user interfaces to be built into system.
Worked under plant's Supply Chain Manager, gaining hands-on experience executing procurement functions as well as observational experience in pursuing strategic goals such as Inventory Reduction and Global Sourcing Optimization. Completed semi-annual Scorecards for the facility's 50-60 Suppliers to benchmark performance and identify areas for improvement. Ran weekly Exception Reports and requested suppliers pull in delivery dates to avoid material stockouts. Supported Purchasing execution: set material prices and safety stock levels, managed third-party logistics invoices, compiled RFQ packets, and identified high and low running materials.
Assisted legal team in company-wide audit of vendor contracts, coordinated with attorneys to prepare a multinational corporate insurance policy purchase, worked with accounting department to manage invoices for outsourced contracts and all other external expenses for the legal department.
