I started out as a network engineer and have since ventured into Network Automation, DevOps, and Software Development. That foundational knowledge in networking has been invaluable, helping me shape better automation solutions, especially in the NetOps realm. Recently, I've been delving into Telemetry and Observability, building automation tools that draw from this data. The aim? To equip network operation engineers with enhanced Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and a deeper understanding of network dynamics. Tools like 'gns3fy' and 'Ansible Collection for GNS3' are part of how I contribute. I'm also part of a hands-on team of automation engineers, and together, we roll up our sleeves to solve the diverse automation challenges clients bring to us. Occasionally, I share snippets of our journey through articles and talks, some of which find their way to my personal blogs and videos.
Designed and implemented projects like: - Network Monitoring platform using the Elastic Stack. Enabling correlation of network devices logs (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers) and metrics. This entailed the design and implementation of the entire stack: - Logstash pipeline for collecting and parsing logs and events. - Elasticsearch clusters that hold metrics, events and logs data. - Kibana visualizations and dashboard creations. - Beats implementations on standard Linux devices for metric collection. - Automated alerting using technologies like Elastalert. - Implementation of CI/CD process for application lifecycle. - Python-based application for network related testing. - Rundeck and Ansible platform configuration for automated job executions - Ansible collections and playbook tested using a CI/CD pipeline and molecule. Other tasks include: - Drive GitOps principles and approach to the Infrastructure. - Drive the principles of Infrastructure as Code and best practices. - Drive best practices to write Python-based applications and Ansible collections.
Network Automation tasks: * Development of Ansible playbooks, roles and modules for network configuration management and network operation tasks like traffic shift from a device. * Development of python applications for network devices audit. Using python network libraries to interact with devices like Netmiko, PyEZ, eAPI, NXOS-API, paramiko and general data parsing like TextFSM and regex. * Development of network monitoring collector using python and PySNMP. * Integration with alerting systems API notification systems from auditing and monitoring applications. * Development of python network testing application using OS-level modules and Scapy. Network Infrastructure tasks: * Design, deployment and operations of the Data Center and corporate network. * Standard operations tasks like network issues troubleshooting, RMAs, upgrades, regular maintenance procedures, etc.. * Network projects deployments like network circuits migration, standardisation of network configuration, provisioning of new circuits, devices.
• Work on the design and implementations of networks for projects involving POPs and datacenters. • Plan, document and build datacenters by determining factors like hardware selection, device configuration and service availability. • Work, deploy and innovate standards for implementing current and new network services on Access, Aggregation, Core and Border network segments. • Configuration and management of Cisco, Juniper and commodity hardware. • Work in network automation techniques and processes to deliver standardized services with improved handoff time. • Create and collaborate in Python related tools for network configuration automation and configuration generation.
Trabajando como Ingeniero de Proyectos y Desarrollo de la red SP de Movistar - Venezuela, he cumplido con las siguientes funciones: • Diseño, planificación y ejecución de proyectos para las redes de clientes Enterprise, sistemas de comunicación de redes Packet Core/GPRS Core Network, sistemas WiFi Offload (para redes móviles) a la red Core IP/MPLS de Service Provider. • Ejecutor de controles de cambios en plataformas IP/MPLS, basadas en los servicios MPLS/VPN + Internet. • Consultor para procesos de troubleshooting basados en las redes IP/MPLS. • Manejo y configuración de equipos Cisco CRS (Cisco Carrier Routing System), ASR (Aggregation Services Router), y sistema IOS XR. • Diseño, planificación y ejecución en proyectos de interconexión entre Proveedores de Servicios en la red SP de Movistar – Venezuela, así como proyectos internos de mejora en arquitectura de la red. • Operación y planificación de túneles MPLS TE para el movimiento de tráfico en la red.
