I am a passionate ecologist with a Master’s degree in biology at UC San Diego. I am seeking employment in the field of wildlife and habitat conservation that will be engaging and impactful. My lifelong aspiration has been to use a career in biology as a platform to help protect threatened habitats and endangered species, and address the rapidly evolving challenges of climate change. I have experience with stable isotope ecology, entomology, tropical ecology, and science education, and I am interested in developing those skill sets as well as new ones. I completed my Master's degree as a member of the Kurle lab at UCSD, with a focus on stable isotope analysis work, in conjunction with NOAA’s Antarctic Ecosystem Research Division. I have previous lab and field experiences through the Kohn and Holway labs at UCSD, my study abroad experience in Costa Rica, as well as at the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research. I earned my Wilderness First Responder certification in 2017.
Designing custom models and sculptures out of LEGO bricks. Restoring incomplete or weathered LEGO models to new condition.
Taught five periods of 7th grade science, 180+ student contacts, developing NGSS-aligned lesson plans, delivering engaging and rigorous science lessons, developing common grade-level assessment material for district-wide use, engaging in professional development programs, attending IEP and 504 meetings.
Taught five sections of 8th Grade Integrated Science in the 2023-2024 school year at Black Mountain Middle School in Rancho Penasquitos. Ran a homeroom session twice a week. 180+ student contacts per week. Prepared and delivered NGSS aligned science material with a focus on building student engagement and incorporating AVID techniques. Completed professional development through the district induction program and additional professional development courses.
One-on-one high school and middle school course instruction with students grades 6-12. Primarily focused on science courses, but also instructing mathematics (algebra through pre-calc), and certain electives (e.g. anthropology, photography).
