Manufacturing Engineer Job Duties: •Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. •Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. •Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. •Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. •Implementation of 5s and Lean Manufacturing Principles: Support functional management in the development and implementation of 5s and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to ensure a safe, productive and efficient work environment. Creates, reviews and approves technical documents on manufacturing processes. Supports engineering & functional management in design for manufacturing, assembly & test by attending meetings and providing manufacturing expertise. •Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests. •Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations. •Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. •Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians. •Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. •Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. •Perform daily/weekly walkthroughs and audits
Buffalo A1/A2, Cougar Variants - MRAP Vehicles •Responsible for engineering support on Buffalo & Cougar variants •Implementing Solid Works, BOSS, MAS 500, Windchill and various additional internal systems. •Creating Job Element Sheets (JES) for build support (build instructions, locations, tooling required and safety precautions) •Supplier liaison, resolving build issues, training floor integration employees on proper assembly procedures •Supporting quality issue resolution – MRB (Material Review Board) Red Tag Process •Supporting implementing the 5S Process/Lean Manufacturing/Safety
XK/XH/WK/WH Interior Trim Launch Team •Resolved interior trim engineering issues (A Pillar, B Pillar Upper, B Pillar Lower, Lift Gate Scuff, Lift Gate Header, Lift Gate Assembly, Front Cowl Trim Panel, Quarter Trim Panel & D Pillar) •DCX systems utilized: CN, Fast Car, E-CIMS, IAA, PER, EBOM •Supplier liaison for part issue resolution and timing •Represented DCX for XK/WK launch at Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) / Detroit, MI. Daily Quality Audit meetings, plant PVE interaction for issue resolution, scheduling PER Trial Runs, CIM room part verification, plant supervisor interaction •Represented DCX for XH/WH launch at Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. Interior trim team engineering support •Reviewed warranty issues – root cause, interaction with plant line workers & design review •Resolved build issues, chaired and supported team meetings •Completed CATIA review for engineers requirement
Forward Model Development •Responsible for the development and launch of the Ford Bed Extender on all truck programs with Bed Extender option •Engineered programs include: Ford P221, P150, P207, P251 & P225 •Responsible for providing customer with accurate timelines for all engineering changes •Coordinated all DVP test designs and results with customer for approval •Launched P221 Bed Extender Program at Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant •Customer liaison: conversed directly with Ford SQA, Product Engineer, and Management •Ford processes utilized included: WERS system, 8-D’s, & PCR’s Ongoing Product Development •Created and developed the Clip Optimization Cost Savings Activity resulting in streamlined fastener operations, a 50% quality improvement, a 40% reduction in quality defects and improvement in customer service •Lead tracking and review of open issues internally and with the customer •Support customers build events and internal trials at various tool shops •Parts engineered include: Map Pockets, seat side shields, door panels, courtesy lighting, air duct, tail gate assembly, A Pillar, Cowl Tray, Cowl, Cowl Side Trim, Splash Panel, Coolant Reservoir Bottle, Air Deflector, Shroud, Deflector, Struts, Stainless Steel Tubing, Wheel Liners, Lower Steering Column Shroud, Back Door Trim / Foam, Rear Floor Finish Plate, clips, Stud Cover, Bed Extender Bushing, Pivot Locks, Bed Rails, Engine Cover, Mud Flaps, etc. •Programs engineered include: Toyota 300N, Toyota 888T, Toyota 120N, GMT 360, Saturn, GM 325/330, Navistar, Freightliner Century Class, Honda, GMX 160/220/320, Subaru 66L & International
