I progressed into an Analyst Programmer role, forming the core of my tenure at ZRA, where I worked across systems development, platform support, data analytics, and project delivery within the Domestic Taxation environment. Key Responsibilities & Contributions: Supported and enhanced core national tax administration platforms, including TaxOnline, TaxOnApp, TaxOnPhone, the Taxpayer Invoice Management System (Zambia POS), Integrated Payments System (IPS), and Reconciliation Module systems. Owned day-to-day stability, availability, and performance of multiple production systems supporting taxpayer registration, filing, invoicing, payments, and revenue reconciliation. Led incident investigation and root-cause analysis for system failures and data discrepancies with direct revenue and compliance impact. Played a key role in integrated payments systems management, supporting onboarding and sustained integration of banks, payment service providers, and third-party corporate systems. Actively participated in project-based development work, delivering new features, system enhancements, and fixes aligned to evolving tax policy and operational requirements. I joined ZRA in a hands-on technical capacity, focusing on application development and production incident support for core domestic taxation systems. Key Focus & Contributions: Worked primarily on TaxOnline 2 and Reconciliation systems, supporting both development activities and live production environments. Assisted in investigation and resolution of production incidents, including system errors and data inconsistencies affecting taxpayer services and revenue flows. Supported bug fixes, module enhancements, and validation of corrective changes prior to deployment. Gained early exposure to mission-critical national revenue systems, operational controls, and public-sector system governance requirements. Built a strong foundation in Oracle-based systems, Java enterprise applications, and live environment support.
I worked as System Developer at Synergy Tracking Solutions. I joined the company as a junior analyst, transitioned to systems developer and finally senior developer. I worked on several projects including but not limited to: Motor vehicle tracking system development, Dynamic website development, Distributed system development, Advanced workflow systems development, etc. During my tenure, I most notably operated as vice lead-programmer on the project to develop the Zambia Metrology Agency’s national workflow system. The system is currently used to service and track Zambia’s standardized weights and measures compliance across all fuel stations, business certified weighing scales, as well as all instruments that are mandated by law to be standardized. I worked extensively with several frameworks and advanced my skills in systems integration, developing large scale systems and backend development of microservice asynchronous processing systems. Once development of the system was successfully completed. I also worked with users for several months providing support and patch fixes to allow for a robust system handover and continuous application enhancements. I worked as a telemarketer for the doctor's network for a few months during my study at the People's Friendship University in Moscow. During which time I learned to work in a unit of combined efforts and collaboration. This skill has proved essential to my development over my short career.
