Professor in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Auckland

Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand

About

My research focuses on the synthesis of small organic molecules to answer complex chemical and biological questions. Whilst preparing these molecules we also explore fundamental chemical principles to aid the development of efficient synthetic methods. At present my research group is working on number of different research areas including, the synthesis of novel antiproliferative compounds, the synthesis of complex bioactive lignans and the synthesis of complex alkaloids as novel treatments for dementia and cancer. I also am active in a number of national and international multidisciplinary research projects working on areas such as natural product synthesis and determination, the synthesis of labelled wine components for wine profiling and the design and synthesis of novel polymer platforms for use as advanced materials and biosensors. Specialties: Chemical Synthesis, Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Design
