Working in the Sales and Marketing department, I was involved with several facets of the department. During my time at Berg I carried out market research for the mailing lists and helped to generate publicity by making sure review copies of new Berg titles were readily available. I was also involved in website maintenance, proof reading, and designing new promotional flyers while daily tasks included processing website orders and making sure promotional material was at conferences.
I started working for HSBC on a temporary contract on my gap year. As a result, I was fortunate enough to be asked back on two further occasions on university summers breaks. I was responsible for carrying out complicated tasks associated with permanent members of staff and being given more responsibility as my time progressed with HSBC. Alongside this, I was also involved with general administrative roles. • May 2009 – September 2009 For the third successive summer working at HSBC, this time in the Corporate Actions department, I was responsible for responding to customer queries regarding shares they held and Corporate Actions that they had been informed about based on their shares. • May 2008 – September 2008 I worked for Register Maintenance within the Income Team, making sure that people received payments of Income, and solving any problems with Direct Debits and other problems regarding customers’ income. • March 2007 – September 2007 I prepared the paperwork so that shares could be transferred into and out of customers’ accounts. I also had responsibility regarding share certificates and sending important letters to customers.
