We operate the California Research and Education Network (CalREN), a high-capacity computer network with more than 8,000 miles of optical fiber. The network serves over 20 million users across California, including the vast majority of K-20 students together with educators, researchers, and individuals at other vital public-serving institutions. CENIC is governed by representatives of its Charter Associates institutions that it serves: California Community Colleges, California K-12 schools, California’s public libraries, the California State University, the University of California, and private universities (Caltech, Naval Postgraduate School, Stanford University, and University of Southern California).
• Teaching students how to identify, defend against, and mitigate against attacks against endpoints and attack pivoting along with how methods attackers remove evidence of compromise and hide their presence. • Demonstrated what Incident Handling is, why it is important, an understanding of the PICERL incident handling process, and industry best practices in Incident Response and Cyber Investigations. • Consistently demonstrate strong understanding of how to perform basic memory forensics and analyze network connections to monitor systems for over 15 unique attack methods • Educated military veterans on how to best configure and maintain intrusion detection systems, showing them how to read and interpret log files and network traffic using over 5 unique tools • Showcase how to create disaster recovery plans, processes, and procedures for 3 different security systems, researching and evaluating solutions to implement improved security practices
