I am a builder—partnering with founders to scale their businesses, developing early and mid-career leaders, and advancing a more modern communications profession that can tackle the complexities of a dynamic world. This third act of my career builds on my experience inside some of the world’s most notable companies — and the many lessons I learned from the remarkable leaders and colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work alongside. For more than 16 years, I led communications and public affairs at Chevron, a role that ignited my lifelong passion for energy advocacy. I've also had the good fortune of serving in leadership positions at other leading companies, including IBM, Levi Strauss & Co., Oracle, and Edelman. Throughout my career, I’ve successfully guided organizations through a range of complex and sensitive challenges, from activist movements and major lawsuits to product recalls, operational incidents, natural disasters, mergers & acquisitions, and policy issues. The communications teams I’ve built established industry benchmarks for creating and executing impactful programs and campaigns. At Chevron, my team was at the forefront of leveraging data analytics and predictive modeling to enhance stakeholder engagement and effectively manage issues — long before the mainstream adoption of Artificial Intelligence. In addition to my corporate roles, I served as the chair of the Arthur W. Page Society's board of trustees, a global association for senior corporate communications and corporate affairs professionals. I also held the position of chairman for the Communications Committee of the American Petroleum Institute. My contributions to the field have been recognized with my induction into of the Page and PR Week Hall of Fames in 2018—two of the highest honors in the communications industry. Additionally, in 2015, I received the Jack Koten Corporate Mentoring Award from the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations. Today, I am a partner with FHS Capital Partners and I serve as a retained advisor to two dynamic firms — DrivePath Advisors and iQ360. I also serve on the board of Highwire — all with the aim of staying actively engaged in this ever-evolving field.
