A self-motivated and technically talented professional with a successful track record in responding to situations with urgency and thinking outside the box, resulting in the minimization of product development time, and increasing process effectiveness. Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrates a commitment to the team in order to ensure projects are completed and schedules are maintained; and motivates others to reach common goals. • Passion for crafting well-developed automated models that are efficient, and which maximize existing resources for a cost effective result • Focussed on problem solving and integration of design knowledge and rules within CAD model systems • Initiates new ideas independently and learns skills as required (new CAD programs, programming) • CAD modeling in solids & surfaces, assemblies, and drafting using: - CATIA V5 - SolidWorks - Siemens NX 6.0 / Teamcenter • Advanced V5 parametric and structured modeling, and Independent Feature Modeling capability • Part and assembly model revision control disciplines and methodologies • Administration of centralized CAD system configurations, environments, custom menus and tools • CAD API programming using VisualBasic, IUA, FORTRAN, C • Utility programming using UNIX & Windows scripts, DtKsh, TclTk • Organized and methodical approach to the management of CAD and project data Specialties: • Advanced CATIA V5 parametric and structured modeling • Independent Feature Modeling methodology • VBA automation in CATIA V5 and SolidWorks
• CAD Design and development of all assemblies, components for the Low Power brushless water pump • Created and maintained drawings and tolerance stackup calculations • Supported design feasibility and materials selection through consultation with manufacturing and materials suppliers, and internal design departments • Defined and maintained BOM’s and part releases using the company drawing management system • Carried out design feasibility studies using CFD and FEA services • Participated in APQP and design review processes
• 3D Modeling and 2D drafting using Siemens NX 6.0 and TeamCenter 8, according to company modeling, drafting, and document management procedures • Design and detailing of components, mechanical and welded assemblies for armoured vehicle sub systems and upgrade kits
• Supported the design and implemenation of 80W, and 50W electric waterpumps • Provided all Cad design support in the 25W electric waterpump innovation team, including assembly/model layout & packaging, tolerance stackup analyses, and some first-pass FEA analyses • Customer design support to VW using ProEngineer WildFire; learned ProEngineer by self-study in 3 months, and rebuilt existing fans and shrouds from first principles using a fusion of ProEngineer with Independent Feature modeling principles developed in CATIA V5 • Improved fan blade surface quality and editability in CATIA V5 through the creation of parametrically-driven airfoil sections, and the development of specific modeling methods to consistently fair between different surface sections of the blade body, leading and trailing edges, and to maintain a minimum plastic thicknesses at the trailing edges. • In the absence of a PDM system, developed a methodology and discipline for the vaulting of CAD models according to the revision level of every individual model, using a Windows folder tree structure. This enabled access to any current or prior revision assembly model or part, providing accurate revision control of all CAD models.
