Created an award-winning, sector leading portfolio of capstone opportunities for his students which provide the work experience and develop the skills and attributes required for the diversity of careers they go onto. Passionate about supporting education and professional education in the Global South, and developing trans-national educational opportunities and collaborations. Collaborates with Professional, Regulatory & Statutory Bodies and animal welfare organisations to enhance animal welfare and support high quality, humane science involving animals, co-creating and co-delivering innovative professional education courses in research animal sciences, welfare and ethics in India, China and across Africa. Chair of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology's Integrative & Organ Systems Pharmacology Initiative Committed to supporting high-quality ethical science involving both humans and animals. Chair of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Research Ethics Committee, a member of the University of Leeds Research Ethics Committee and the University of Leeds Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Body (AWERB, IACUC). Led the creation of the University of Leeds first research ethics policy. Co-created with colleagues in Africa, the first Guidelines for establishment and functioning of Animal Ethics Committees in Africa.
