My primary area of focus in research, teaching, and scholarship pertains to the inequities prevalent within the US healthcare delivery system. Social determinants such as race and class-based discrimination (to name a few) often contribute to the emergence of diseases, with psychological stress serving as a key factor. My research and scholarly endeavors explore the systemic subjugation of marginalized groups and its ramifications on overall mental and physical well-being. Moreover, I have taught sociology courses on race, ethnicity, and gender challenging students to interrogate their assumptions about difference. Additionally, I possess experience in teaching within the realm of PA education and have overseen the establishment of a new program. My published works span a range of disciplines (https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C48&q=darron+smith&oq=Darron ), including health services research, sports and race, black masculinity and health, and religious studies, with a focus on Black people in Mormonism.
Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnose mental health disorders, prescribe medications, manage treatment plans, monitor progress, collaborate with therapists, and support patient wellness.
