I help people with land and vision create regenerative places — from homesteads and working farms to agrihoods, village conservation communities, hospitality destinations, and nonprofit or municipal food and land initiatives. With decades of hands-on farming experience and a career in planning, design, and community development, I guide landowners, developers, cities, counties, and mission-driven organizations from initial concept to master plans and implementation. My work spans three core areas: • Regenerative agriculture — homesteads, farms, food systems, and educational farm programs • Community planning — agrihoods, village conservation communities, nonprofit land initiatives, and city and county planning efforts • Placemaking & hospitality — farm-to-table resorts, land-based retreats, and immersive agricultural experiences I work on projects across all scales, centered on land potential, master planning, and cultivating regenerative, economically resilient places from vision to completion. I believe that when we design with nature and community in mind, we create places that nourish people, strengthen ecosystems, and endure for generations.
We are a team of passionate and experienced designers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and community builders. Building on Daron "Farmer D" Joffe's storied career in biodynamic farming, farm design, and farm advocacy, our team has helped to establish some of the leading regenerative community and resort farms in the world. The firm was founded in 2002 and has over two decades of experience in regenerative agriculture, landscape architecture, and conservation community planning and sustainable development. Farmer D has pioneered award winning agrihoods and farm conservation communities, integrating agriculture into real estate development and conservation planning. We believe in thriving communities, where farming, conservation and development bring food, nature and people together to create a healthier, more connected world.
Coastal Roots Farm is a nonprofit community farm and education center where we nourish connections—to ourselves, our neighbors, and the land. Inspired by Jewish wisdom and centuries-old agricultural traditions, we practice sustainable farming and share our harvest with communities that lack access to healthy food. Our goal is to become a model for community farming and creative Jewish expression, both at home in Encinitas, California, and around the world.
As Director of Agricultural Innovation and Development for Leichtag Foundation, Daron oversaw the master planning and operations of Leichtag Commons, a 67.5 agricultural property in Encinitas, CA and led the launch of Coastal Roots Farm as it's Founding Director from 2014 to 2018.
