Dario Fornara is Research Director of the Davines Group - Rodale Institute European Regenerative Organic Center (EROC). The overarching goal of EROC is to deliver ground-breaking research, education, and dissemination activities to demonstrate the multiple beneficial effects of regenerative organic agriculture for a variety of industries. This work aims to increase the agricultural land area managed according to regenerative organic standards to benefit (1) farmers producing food, fibre, and organic active ingredients, (2) human health, and (3) the well-being of agroecosystems in the face of environmental change.
Project Leader of the Biogeochemistry and Terrestrial Ecology Research Programme in the Sustainable Agri-Food Science Division. Biogeochemistry research is focused on five key areas: (1) reducing uncertainty in the UK GHG inventory and generating regional specific emissions factors; (2) understanding the factors controlling soil health and soil ecosystem functioning; (3) quantifying the effects of land management on plant growth and plant yields, soil carbon sequestration and soil nutrient cycling; (4) evaluating strategies for reducing GHG emissions from fertilisers, manures and grazing returns; and (5) estimating the net carbon footprint of agriculture.
