Focusing on the equity considerations for residential wood heating in the energy transition, administration of the Firewood Bank Assistance Program, and advocacy for cleaner wood-burning technology.
I first served as the Environmental Literacy Department Manager, helping plan new case studies, peer-to-peer teaching templates, and "Do One Thing" action components before being promoted to Green Scholars co-Fellow two months into the internship. From there, I was involved in the long-term planning and management of the Green Scholars team, helping lead ~14 interns, connecting with 5 advisors, and working with different departments across the organization. At the same time, I was an intern on the Legislation & Advocacy's Extended Producer Responsibility team where I led legislative outreach on Massachusetts' "Act to Expand the Bottle Bill" on the Senate side (S.2149). This included outreach to the Senate Ways and Means Committee, Senate President Spilka, and correspondence with Senator Tarr's office. I also led research on EPR "green flags" and "red flags."
I gathered data and created profiles on potential donors, mainly using the Federal Election Commission database. I performed phone banking outreach to invite voters around the state to fundraising events. I performed other outreach tasks as needed.
I organized and managed state chapters at colleges and high schools, helping to connect young people across the state with political campaigns.
I planted crops and performed general upkeep on the farm. I also marketed products at Little Rock farmers' markets.
