  • Lab Management at Proofpoint

    The Lab Management Technician will install new servers, switches, and other hardware into the all major labs of the company. Patching, cabling, and network troubleshooting will also be part of the job duties of the Lab Management Technician. Server OS installs(Linux,CentOS, Unix, etc), hardware upgrades, and system validations will be taken care of. Asset handling, system decommissions as well as updating system inventory on OpenDCIM will be done by the Lab Management Technician. The Engineering Lab Technician will also be taking care of setting up monitoring systems to track power consumption, temperature, and space capacity using SMTP to pull information from PDU's/Sensors to DCIM programs. They will be expected to use scripting languages and be strongly familiar with Linux/CLI to automate monitoring to send email,SMS, and other alerts to the appropriate lab owners. Also strong usage of virtual VM management using VMware, vCenter, and vSphere for deployment, migration, and consolidation.

    The engineering intern will be assisting the Engineering Lab Manager with designing, maintaining, and sustaining the engineering laboratories for the company. This includes but not limited to working with servers, computer networks, as well as keeping inventory and assisting in purchasing and documenting all inventory in OpenDCIM. He will also be using Linux and MySQL for tasks such as consolidation of existing systems to ensure capacity for new systems to be developed for lab customers.
