Recruited to RSS in 2006 to lead the design and development of AAMPS which is now deployed as the principal data system on NOAA's fleet of Hurricane Hunter aircraft. Designed and developed several real-time data processing and dissemination applications for NOAA. Created the configuration, data transmission and data acquisition applications for multiple radar systems developed by RSS for NASA including KaSPAR and HIWRAP. Significant achievements include: - Designed and developed multi-threaded, redundant data acquisition systems for KaSPAR and HIWRAP, handling sustained data rates over 600MB/s with no loss of data and real-time backup. - Architected and implemented an open, easily extensible API and self-describing message set to simplify maintenance and system upgrades. - Implemented a subscription based distributed data communication system for AAMPS, easing the burden on the server and network. - Designed and developed a real-time, redundant data acquisition system for AAMPS to simultaneously record multi-rate data from over 200 sensors, exceeding stringent data loss and data availability requirements. - Created a configuration management system enabling remote control and monitoring and including automated system change logging via Subversion. - Designed and developed several client applications for the National Hurricane Center, including the first to allow forecasters real-time access to reconnaissance aircraft data. - Used XML based configuration mechanisms to allow for addition and modification of configurable parameters and system components without requiring code changes. - Solely responsible for authoring and executing comprehensive test plans for all software processes. - Built and installed board support packages and root file systems for testing the Freescale T4240. - Languages, Protocols and other Technologies used include: C, C++ Python, Qt, XML, OOA/D, TCP, UDP, Linux, RT-Linux, Eclipse, Subversion, GNU Tools and NetCDF.
