Throughout my studies, I have gained a strong passion for serving underdeveloped communities to better the quality of life for the individuals within the community. I have seen and experienced the effects of disasters in my area, which has directed me towards picking up a minor in community engaged homeland security and emergency management. My dedication towards this topic has allowed me to see firsthand how impactful we can be in the lives of those who have been affected by a disaster through preventative services, as well as interventions. Working with people one-on-one, specifically low-income families, is not only enjoyable for me, but allows us as public health professionals to really make a difference. With my training and skills developed, I aim to assist others in my community practice proper public health methods, and work to create better communities for everyone.
