  • Crescent Theatre 70th Anniversary at Crescent Theatre
    Feb 2016 - Apr 2016 · 3 mos

The Little Theatre Group (LTG) were celebrating their 70th Anniversary this year and were incorporating this into their annual AGM and conference which was taking place at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham for 2016. The conference was open to all theatre owners and managers of the theatres which run within the LTG as an annual review and a chance to give feedback and views on possible improvements. There were also shows, workshops and guest speakers to keep the delegates entertained for the three-day conference. Before the event which took place in April, I had several meetings with the organisers of the event. This was to give suggestions for the content at the event and be informed of any progression and improvements made. During the event I worked on the cloak room, taking delegates coats and possessions and organising them into a system which made them easily retrievable at the end of the day. I also helped keep the venue clean and to a high standard to ensure that delegates had the best experience. My main role throughout the conference was to interact and engage with delegates to give them the best experience possible.

The Big Bang Fair is an annual fair that takes place at the NEC Birmingham, the fair is targeted to young people in education from the age of 6 – 16 who have an interest in science and engineering. There are many stalls and exhibitors who talk to the visitors of the event and talk about what options the attendees have if they wish to enter the industry. There are also stages at the event which have guest speakers from the industry who will speak to and hold a show for any of the visitors who want to watch. There are also competitions from schools who compete against each other and showcase their skills. My roles included working on registration where I welcomed visitors, Evaluation where I interacted with visitors to complete an evaluation survey of the event and stage assistant. The stage assistant role consisted of tidying up the stage area to ensure it was lean for the next show, counting in visitors to the show and seating them and then ushering them out at the end of the show.

  • ITT Future You Conference at ITT Future You
    Feb 2016 - Mar 2016 · 2 mos

The ITT Future You conference was an event held at University College Birmingham in the McIntyre House campus on Charlotte Street. The conference was open to events and travel and tourism students who wanted the chance to speak to potential employers and sit in on guest speaker who would be supplying the attendees with unmissable and invaluable knowledge and advice about their chosen career path. My main role for the organisation of the event was marketing. This meant helping to create marketing materials and evaluation surveys for the event and implementing the marketing onto social media. I thoroughly enjoyed this role. I also worked on build-up, registration and event break-down. All of these roles gave me a very interactive role in the event process and allowed me to engage with attendees, giving me the opportunity to provide great customer service.
