My career goal is to improve our strategies to prevent and treat chronic diseases. My work integrates epidemiology, exercise physiology, psychology, biostatistics, mixed methods, and dissemination and implementation science to understand nutrition and physical activity behavior and identify factors that predict initial adoption and long-term adherence to these behavioral strategies. I apply human-centered design and mixed methods to engage diverse partners (community members, clinicians, organizational staff/leaders) in the development and rigorous testing of lifestyle interventions. I am particularly interested in 1) the development, optimization, and rigorous testing of novel interventions to improve health and, 2) using dissemination and implementation science to facilitate the spread, adoption, implementation, and sustainment of these evidence-based interventions at the population level.
