Boston, Massachusetts, United States
I am the founder and principal of DGS/a Architecture, a boutique residential design firm that has earned a top PRISM award for "excellence and superior achievement" from the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston. My work encompasses bringing to life visions for new design, redesign, and additions for homes ranging in style from contemporary to historic - and from in-town spaces to suburban havens and country/seaside getaways. I work in the Back Bay and Beacon Hill, Boston's surrounding towns, Cape Cod, Greater New England, the Florida coast, and across the country. My overarching question is not about square footage or other numbers. It's "How would you like to feel in your space?" My aim: To create for you all the comfort and good energy you envision for your improved surroundings.
Creating and transforming residences into places that finally put people in the homes they truly desire.
I taught practicums from entry-level, first-year students in their introductory design studio through graduate students for whom I served as a thesis advisor. Colleagues frequently asked me to critique the work of their own students, as well.
Working in the firm's residential design group, I was assigned projects that included helping with the redesign of a condominium renovation at the Four Seasons. I love the work but ultimately left because I had been approached to design more projects on a moonlighting basis than I could manage outside of office hours.
Here, in my first full-time job after graduate school, I quickly worked my way up to designing ultra high-end, bespoke, single-family residences, renovations, and additions. In this role I designed a number of indoor pools.
During graduate school, this firm - 100 percent residential - gave me on-the-job training as a drafting person.
