I am a Digital Transformation and Technology Strategy consultant with 15 years of experience in the public sector, transportation, and utilities. I have a proven track record of successfully facilitating cross-functional collaboration between IT and operations teams to achieve shared objectives. I specialise in helping clients optimise their control room operations and integrate new technologies into their Traffic Management Systems. If you're wrestling with complex issues within your control room or want to talk about your future strategy for Traffic Management Systems, I'd relish a conversation. I can help you with tactical actions to 'keep the lights on' for creaking legacy systems, whilst planning the future strategy and safe transition to your next generation technology stack. Or, if you'd prefer a more casual chat, I'd be just as interested to hear your latest espresso recipe or favourite home cocktail!
I was the engagement lead for delivery of the to-be architecture for a Smart Campus, a £1.2Bn programme. I led the team of 12 to deliver design artefacts, engaging with the client and establishing supplier relationships to bring together the necessary expertise to solve complex problems.
I worked directly to the COO, maturing operations, resolving both strategic long-term issues and delivering tactical pragmatic solutions to immediate problems. Issues have ranged from Policy creation, service optimisation, strategic supplier management, to undertaking ad hoc data analytics to support decision making, and designing end user communication campaigns. I am now the account lead for LI within Invent.
I delivered Business Analysis, Strategy & Vision and project management support in over 40 assignments. A selection of my projects are provided below: • Police & Crime Commissioner: I managed a team to develop a solution and supporting business case for a capability to provide a mobile live streaming solution to stream witness statements from remote locations into court rooms, working to the PCC. I led the development of options for the solution, leveraging near horizon national capabilities (identified during the national scoping exercise) to reduce the cost and complexity of the solution. I interviewed vulnerable victims and witnesses of crime to capture their experience of the criminal justice system in order to build a case for change. • Transport: I worked directly to the contract Senior Responsible Officer, having built a reputation for delivering great results in limited timeframes. I led development of a £23M business case which achieved ministerial sign off. Working with senior stakeholders, I created the 5-year Control Room Technology Strategy . I led procurement of a £16m contract including service specification, single tender action with negotiation and contract mobilisation. • Police Service: After initially providing strategy assurance work, I successfully secured follow-on work to undertake development and delivery of the broader digital strategy, working directly to the Assistant Chief Constable. I subsequently created the Channel Shift Strategy (including 999 and 101 calls) that covered approx. 200k emergency contacts p.a. • Fire and Rescue Service: I led a team to review the command and control capability and deliver an options appraisal for its future. This included a review of working practices, operational effectiveness, market assessment, engagement with partner organisations and an economic analysis.
I have worked alone to design and implement new functionality requested by the client, as well as in teams to deliver major changes (including changes to and the creation of; workflows, server script, business components and services, views, applets, assignment manager, value and data maps, etc.). I have also worked in 3rd line support, resolving issues reported by the client and pre-emptively identifying and fixing bugs before they have caused problems for the client. I also perform the role of release manager, preparing releases to our live system and ensuring our environments and code streams are kept in sync with production.
On this project I was part of the team that processed the financial transactions made as a result of the Imbalance Settlement carried out by National Grid. In this project I was working with Elexon and have learnt about how they administer the Balancing and Settlement Code, this has allowed me to build a more complete picture of how the energy market operates end to end.
During this period I was working on an ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) project in Switzerland, implementing an Allegro energy trading platform. I worked within the configuration team, interfacing with the client to understand the business needs and later using this information to deliver technical solutions. In this project my focus was system functionality for back office users.
On this project I worked as a Java Developer, using the SCRUM agile development methodology, implementing a smart metering project. Working within an agile team, I co-ordinated my own work and had to communicate what I was doing to others; I had a strong commitment to my team and maintained a clear focus on what was being delivered at all times.
