I am an urban geographer, currently a third-year PhD student at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. I have a solid background in researching planned socialist towns. Following my BSc and MSc theses on this topic, in my current doctoral research, I deal with the legacy of the former socialist industrialisation and urbanisation through the examination of five towns in Transdanubia, Hungary. In addition to my scientific work, I have almost a decade of experience in environmental statistics.
Doctoral studies in geography at the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences / Department of Social and Economic Geography. Research topic: The survival or disappearance of former characteristic features on the example of five mining / industrial / socialist towns in Transdanubia, Hungary Research area: Ajka, Komló, Oroszlány, Tatabánya, Várpalota Main research directions: – The situation of the worker’s colonies built in the pre-1945 era – Remnants of mining and other (heavy) industrial activity, brownfield areas, environmental degradation – Local appearance of the economic structure and management of the capitalist and socialist era, similarities and differences – The fate of the "original" villages and predecessor settlements – The built heritage of the socialist era, architectural and urban planning ideologies and what was realised from them in practice – The appearance of the mining / industrial / socialist town past in the present life of the towns, the forms of tradition preservation
My main areas of responsibility are environmental-economic statistics (currently) and energy statistics and statistics of public utilities (previously). In this context, my main tasks are/were the following: - Compilation of the Eurostat's monetary environmental accounts for Hungary: Environmental protection expenditure accounts (EPEA) and Environmental goods and services sector accounts (EGSS) - Professional supervision of data collections related to the above - Professional supervision of data collections about public utilities (electricity, gas supply, district heating and hot water supply) - Receiving the not own-collected data for energy statistics from another authority - Validation and processing of these data - Creating various publications and analyzes for online platforms, online and print publications - Serving data requests - Keeping contact with Eurostat and different Offices/Authorities, participation in the Eurostat's Working Group on Monetary Environmental Statistics and Accounts
I was able to get involved in various works related to regional and urban development, e.g. preparation of urban development documents and review of cost-benefit analyzes of supported programs.
