I teach and bring awareness to male athletes around campus about becoming better bystanders. I work alongside two other facilitators with a group of about 10- 15 male athletes. We begin the 45 min to an hour session with a group dialogue about what it means to be a good teammate and leader. We branch of from those characteristics we talk about as a group and incorporate it in how to become a better bystander by using those qualities and characteristics. We give the athletes tools to not only be aware of troublesome situations that may occur on a campus but most important tools to diffuse a situation that could endanger the female and male involved.
I was an assistant player coach at the annual University of New Hampshire Football Camp. Through the duration of the camp I taught aspiring football players how to properly play the game of football. I informed them about the fundamentals of the game also encourage to find the a reason and love for playing the game. Most importantly I taught the young athletes about the importance of tackling the proper way to insure future safety as the continue to play at the higher levels.
