Gas Dispatcher in Shell’s Gas & Infrastructure organization, responsible for real-time upstream gas dispatch, portfolio management, and execution across European gas value chains and markets. Responsibilities include upstream dispatching on behalf of both Shell and multiple partner shippers, requiring close coordination with transmission system operators, traders, downstream operations, and external counterparties across European gas networks. The role combines 24/7 operational control with independent commercial decision-making authority to optimize the gas portfolio, including discretionary market allocation decisions to maximize commercial value while ensuring physical gas flows, transport capacity utilization, and market commitments remain aligned in a fast-moving environment with significant financial exposure. Decisions are made under tight time constraints, balancing operational feasibility, contractual obligations, market exposure, and risk. In parallel with core dispatch responsibilities, I independently designed, developed, and maintain internal operational and trade optimization systems used across the gas team. These systems enable rapid trade and transport re-optimization, align internal energy-based dispatch systems with external volume-based transport platforms, and simplify the execution of complex operational scenarios including within-day changes, curtailment management, and non-standard gas days.
