As a legal intern, I am responsible for researching and monitoring the fast paced esports industry. I track major changes and emerging business practices, then apply a legal lens to assess their impact. My analysis covers a broad range of legal fields, including corporate law, competition law, intellectual property, gambling regulations, and many others.
Interim Paralegal at Road B.V., a scale-up operating at the intersection of fintech, cleantech, and SaaS. Responsibilities: Contract Negotiation & Drafting: Draft and review a wide range of agreements, including commercial contracts, NDAs, platform terms, employment contracts, and intercompany arrangements. Regulatory & Competition Law: Conduct in-depth legal research on, inter alia, PSD2/PSD3, EU accessibility requirements, cybersecurity and energy regulation, and apply competition law principles to market models within the EV charging ecosystem. Anti-Fraud & Risk Mitigation: Support efforts to detect and prevent fraud in EV charging, including skimming schemes and abusive session patterns, through legal research and internal policy drafting. Employment & Corporate Legal Support: Draft and revise employment contracts, assist with governance documentation (e.g. works council rules), and support internal policy development to reflect evolving compliance and labor law obligations. Privacy, Security & ISO 27001 Compliance: Contribute to ISO 27001 implementation, assist in drafting information security policies, and support GDPR compliance. External Counsel & Litigation Support: Participate in meetings with external lawyers to assess litigation strategies, clarify technical issues, and align legal positions across product, compliance, and commercial teams. Cross-Functional Legal Enablement: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Success to integrate legal risk assessments into operational processes and business decisions. Legal Operations & Knowledge Management: Maintain legal templates, help systematize contract workflows, and streamline documentation processes to scale legal support efficiently. This role places me at the core of a multidisciplinary legal environment, bridging law, technology, and infrastructure in a sector where innovation, regulatory complexity, and societal impact converge.
Worked at the Banking and Finance department for a month where I got to modify and verify security documents, translate contracts, do thorough research on complex legal issues, and get first-hand experience of meetings with clients as well as legal contract negotiations.
