From the fields to the future — my journey in agriculture has always been driven by a passion for innovation, resilience, education and transformation. As Managing Director of the Association for Technology and Structures in Agriculture (KTBL), I lead strategic efforts to modernize and digitize agricultural systems. My previous role as Chief Agricultural Advisor at the Agricultural Public Service Center of Rhineland-Palatinate allowed me to shape policy and drive innovation at the intersection of technology and farming. As a keynote speaker at national and international conferences, I advocate for the integration of AI-based technologies, including tools like Watson Assistant, to support farmers and advisors in decision-making. I also teach digital farming and entrepreneurship, sharing insights from both research and practice. Over the years, I’ve coordinated groundbreaking projects such as GeoBox-I/II, Experimentierfeld Südwest, and SoFI — initiatives that explore the potential of smart farming infrastructure and digital resilience. My scientific focus lies in developing concepts like Resilient Smart Farming (RSF) and RSFLab, as well as exploring Resilient Edge Computing (REC) as a scalable solution for future-ready agriculture. As vocational teacher with a second state examination, I am deeply committed to agricultural education and training, fostering the next generation of professionals in the field. My career spans roles in policy advising, research, and leadership — from the European Parliament to the University of Hohenheim, and from climate-focused research at JKI to strategic innovation in public service. With a Master of Science in Agricultural Sciences and deep experience in agricultural policy, I bring a holistic perspective to the challenges and opportunities facing global agriculture. Scientific evidence plays a crucial role in guiding strategic decisions and shaping resilient agricultural innovations. Let’s build the future of farming — resilient, smart, and sustainable.
