I am a Swiss MD with board-certified specialization in Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases/Vaccinology with experience in clinical and laboratory medicine, academia, public health and in the biopharmaceutical industry on a senior level. In my current role, I am acting as Scientific Secretary of the Swiss National Immunization Advisory Board (EKIF/CFV) for the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. In addition, I am providing support for the implementation of the Swiss electronic vaccination card at the University of Geneva (foundation myvaccines). I continue seeing patients in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases in private office. In 2018, I founded my own consulting company (Scientific Consulting Daniel Desgrandchamps, www.desgrandchamps.ch). During my clinical career, I was working as an office-based pediatrician and hospital consultant and as the responsible for the pediatric infectious disease unit at the Children’s Hospital of Lucerne. In parallel, I was acting as the Swiss Red Cross' responsible for the medical refugee TB screening and vaccination program, as a member of the national Swiss Vaccination Commission, and an InfoVac expert since its foundation in 2001. I have built up a broad network in vaccinology and infectious diseases. In 2012/2013, I was responsible for the implementation of the new hospital reimbursement system SwissDRG at 3 University Children’s Hospitals in Switzerland. This position allowed for a deep insight into hospital management and public relations. In my pharmaceutical industry roles, I interacted with professional, regulatory, and public health authorities, experts and the public. My main activities were product support, training, life-cycle management, risk management, pharmacovigilance, medical information and publication management. As Chief Medical Officer, I was responsible for preclinical and early clinical study activities. In my last position, I provided Medical Affairs support for Pfizer's meningitis vaccines franchise in the DACH region and acted as their Meningococcal Group C vaccine lead for EU. I was responsible for an MSR Team in Germany. I am fluent in English, German, French, and Italian.
