His portfolio covered the topics of digital policies and democracy, disinformation, human-centric and ethical approaches to AI, as well as economic and monetary affairs. He led the work on the European Democracy Action Plan and guidance to strengthen the Code of practice on disinformation.
Daniel Braun was the Deputy Head of Cabinet of Ms Věra Jourová, Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality. His portfolio covered the topics of Fundamental Rights, inter-institutional relations and economic and monetary affairs. In continuous effort to tackle racism and xenophobia Mr Braun was instrumental in initiating and conducting deliberations of the European Commission and major IT platforms, which resulted in the announcement of the Code of Conduct on illegal online hate speech in May 2016 (http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-16-1937_en.htm). He contributed to the Action Plan against Disinformation, as well as the European strategy on Artificial Intelligence, in particular as concerns its ethical and legal aspects.
