The Association of Nature Center Administrators (ANCA) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting best leadership and management practices for nature and environmental learning centers. Membership & Programs Coordinator will support, develop, and implement strategies to cultivate the ANCA Membership and Business Partner Programs and to coordinate ANCA’s Programs and Events.
Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of all educational and recreational programs offered at Woldumar Nature Center. Programming areas include Day Camp, School Programs, EcoGreen water quality testing, Team building and leadership courses, Scouting programs, contracted educational and recreational services, and community education and recreation programs. Responsible for educational content displayed throughout the Visitor Center and grounds, and the educational component of festivals and events. As Program Director I was also responsible for budget development, community partner management, design and implementation of marketing, and hiring and training of seasonal staff.
Additional responsibilities: Mentor and lead other Instructors though providing observations and feedback on performance. Plans and lead new staff training. Manage care and upkeep of animals including reptiles, amphibians, fish, mammals, and raptors. Coordinating staff that are part of animal care team. Responsible for all purchasing and budget related to animals.
Teach 5th and 6th grade students in the residential camp program. Subject areas fall into following themes: Science, Adventure/Leadership and Outdoor Pursuits, and History. Daily supervision, entertainment, and discipline of students. Occasional week of overnight supervision of students.
Developed and taught a two week AP Biology/Pre Med curriculum for middle and high school level. Served as direct supervisor for instructional staff. Led daily staff meetings and coordinated field trips and supply orders. Complied end-of-season report.
To improve the overall condition of the Institute property and trail systems as they pertain to wildlife habitat and use by the public.
