What I’m all about… I believe a leader’s number one accountability is to create environments where people can choose to excel. Whether in business, government, or elite sport, sustainable success is built on culture, clarity, and courageous leadership. As an Olympic medalist and internationally recognised performance leader, I have spent over 30 years at the intersection of athlete success, organisational strategy, and executive leadership. I have represented Australia at four Olympic Games and led across 20 more, working with athletes, coaches, boards, and ministers to deliver outcomes on the world stage. Through my work with the Australian Sports Commission, AFL, NRL, International Rugby Board, and Fortune 500 companies, I have guided strategy, overseen multi-year budgets, reported directly to boards, and collaborated with government and commercial partners to secure investment and alignment. I understand both the pressure of elite competition and the governance, risk, and accountability required to sustain it. Today, as Founder of Collins Consulting, I partner with leaders and organisations to design high-performance systems, transform culture, and drive results. From building athlete pathways to supporting executive teams, I focus on delivering innovation, collaboration, and wellbeing—ensuring performance excellence while leaving a lasting legacy. My goal is simple: to create winning environments where extraordinary results are inevitable.
As Founder and Managing Director of Collins Consulting, I work with boards, CEOs, and executive teams to build high-performance cultures that consistently deliver results. Over the past two decades, I have partnered with organisations ranging from Fortune 500 companies to national sporting bodies, helping them set strategic visions, align leadership teams, and implement practical systems that drive performance. My work has included supporting the Japanese Rugby Union in achieving its best-ever Rugby World Cup performance in 2015, leading transformation initiatives for Sydney Roosters, Countdown NZ, Woolworths, and Pepper Money, and developing athlete pathways across AFL, NRL, rugby, and Olympic sports. Running a profitable consultancy employing 6–10 staff has also given me deep understanding of the pressures and skills required in running a business. Whether advising a board, partnering in performance uplifts, or guiding leadership through cultural transformation, I focus on creating clarity, alignment, and sustainable results.
As High Performance Manager, I led the Brisbane Lions’ athlete development and performance function, managing staff, resources, and multi-million-dollar budgets. My role was to ensure athletes had the right environment, support, and programs to perform at their peak. I developed and implemented identification and development strategies to sustain elite pathways, secured grant funding for high-performance initiatives, and established monitoring systems to track athlete wellbeing and training outcomes. By embedding continuous improvement processes, I contributed to a more accountable, competitive, and resilient high-performance program.
At World Rugby, I advised on strategy, governance, and the global development of high-performance programs. I helped manage a $90 million strategic investment fund, ensuring accountability and impact across multiple nations. Created cross border competition and commercial models. Collaborated with member unions to enhance athlete, coach, and official pathways. Established academies to support the development numbers of elite rugby players in these T2 Countries. Transferred knowledge and left behind systems, processes and tools that enabled stability of the strategic investment initiatives. This role worked with the Head of Rugby for World Rugby and reported directly to the World Rugby Board.
In this role, I advised on national high-performance strategy and athlete pathways, reporting directly to the AIS Director and the ASC Board. Over four years, I delivered 11 board-level reviews with recommendations on funding, resourcing, and strategic priorities. I helped restructure athlete development pathways and funding models, ensuring more effective talent identification and progression to medal-winning performances. I also drove systemic workforce development, building the capability of coaches and administrators to sustain long-term success. This role gave me deep insight into government operations, policy, and governance at the highest levels of sport.
