I am a Graduate Research Assistant & Instructor, engaged in a praxis of community-engaged leadership, and culturally-responsive school leadership. My research focus is grounded in youth voice, where I partner with youth organizations to sustain transformative approaches to youth being recognized as agentic decision-makers.
Public transit can be a great equalizer where our communities can be connected. I am passionate about community-engaged partnerships where we share in developing pathways that are equitable, and that we center the strengths, assets, and knowledge of our neighbors to make meaningful change. Our communities deserve to be able to be connected in ways that are culturally responsive, safe, and enhance the quality of life for all.
Leadership in the Organizational Context is a course that critically engages 25 undergraduate students through looking inward and building community while engaging with leadership theories and reflecting on personal lived experiences, and current events. Students participate in discussions, presentations, and engage in praxis through applying leadership theories in their own lives. My teaching style is grounded in constructivist, critical theory, and positive youth development paradigms that seek to bring people together, and sustain an inclusive learning community.
I partner with youth ages 12-22, communities, and schools to provide holistic support for at-risk youth. I facilitate workshops with communities in the NEK to foster authentic and equitable youth voice and youth engagement. I also have experience in grant writing and implementation with multiple projects that are oriented around equity and inclusion. I also co-facilitate one of the first LGBTQIA+ youth groups in the Northeast Kingdom.
incrEDible is a community that highlights the remarkable stories centered around education. At its core, education is about community building and making sense of our world through storytelling. In order to honor education, incrEDible hosts podcast episodes, and blogs that strive to build community and powerful educational stories.
Foster relationships with 180+ income eligible students throughout the state of Minnesota. Engage in near-pear support with students and provide quality information pertaining to financial aid, registration, transferring logistics, and ensuring college persistence. Recruit unenrolled students to co-develop a pathway towards earning a bachelor's degree. Maintain collegial relationships with vulnerable populations including ELL, students of color, and differently-abled students. Experience with data analysis and management via Salesforce, and protecting the privacy of College Possible students.
