About

Self-driven individual with a hunger for knowledge and persistence in practice. As an aspiring materials researcher/engineer, I recognise the importance of interdisciplinary learning and maintain a well-balanced variety of interests spanning scientific research, photography, and coding, as well as various sports including mountain biking, basketball, and badminton. I strongly believe that failure is a catalyst for growth, and am unafraid of embarking on new endeavours in the pursuit of knowledge.

Experience

  • Student Intern at STMicroelectronics
    Dec 2024 - Dec 2024 · 1 mo

Attached to STMicroelectronics under the MOE ETPS programme. Learned about complete supply-chain operations within the company. Gained exposure to relevant technologies used in IC design, manufacturing, quality control and product sorting.

  • Student Intern at Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC)
    Dec 2023 - Dec 2023 · 1 mo

Attached to IHPC under the A*STAR JC Science Award. Shadowed a mentor to better understand ongoing projects. Gained exposure to the field of quantum chemical energetics and simulations using computational softwares.

  • Student Intern at DSTA
    Sep 2022 - Dec 2022 · 4 mos

Attached to the Cybersecurity Department of DSTA under the Research@YDSP programme. Investigated the re-training of a Named Entity Recognition (NER) model within the cybersecurity domain using web-scraped data. Learned about the fundamentals of supervised machine learning as well as the importance of data cleanliness and volume in model training. Honed my skills in Python scripting. Delivered a project report and infographic.

  • Student Intern at Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE)
    Nov 2021 - Nov 2021 · 1 mo

Shadowed an SJI alumnus, Dr Png Zhuang Mao to investigate post-polymerisation diversification via the inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) reaction. Learned about various chemical reactions, characterisation techniques, and advanced instrumentation within the wet labs. Experienced firsthand real-world research workflows, from project planning to data collection.
