• Responsible for the risk management and implementation/improvement of risk policies and processes across 15 countries within Europe, Black Sea Region, Middle East and Africa. Annual Turnover USD 12b & 33 Millon Metric Tons. • In this role I make sure that corporate policies are known, understood and applied, as well as escalate to functional risk leadership when policies need adaptation for the proper development of local businesses. • As a member of regional management team, I work with commercial leaders to facilitate and maximize commercial opportunities within a controlled risk framework and appetite. • I work in close partnership with Group Chief Risk Officer, Regional Managing Directors, Regional CFO, Trading desks, Operations, Legal, Compliance, HR, as well as with Functional Leaders for each Global Risk Function (Market Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Insurance & Claims Management) • Active definition and management of regional risk limits (Position limits Flat/Cash, VaR, MDDL, Credit/PFE) in line with annual budget. • Regional CRO operates within matrix organization with 4 direct reports working in local offices (Bucharest, Kiev, Rotterdam) and leveraging the use of indirect resources reporting to global risk functions as well as other departments. • In charge of coordination and organization of Group Executive Risk Committee (higher risks decision making level forum after Board of Directors). • Reporting to Group Chief Risk Officer. • Main achievements: a) successful implementation of risk framework, b) EMEA region reached full transparency on risks and mitigation measures, c) improved agility and response of risk committee to business, d) daily reporting achieved for risk positions and PnL, e) weekly reporting achieved on credit risk side.
• Lead the Global Credit Risk Department. Managed the counterparty risk along the entire trading pipeline, both with suppliers, farmers, traders, end-buyers, shipping operators, vessel owners and financial institutions, covering Marked-to-Market, PFE (Potential Future Exposure), account receivables and prefinancing risks. Annual Turnover USD 31b & 100 Millon Metric Tons. Credit Portfolio Size USD 1b+. • Managed a global team of 30 people across 8 different locations in 3 continents (Geneva, Chicago, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Kiev, Bucharest, Rotterdam and Singapore) • Covered Grains and Oilseeds, Sugar, Cotton, Coffee, Cocoa and Chartering (Ocean Freight) businesses, both for Origination, Trading and Distribution value chains. • Regular interaction with external and internal clients, including Trading, Operations, Treasury, Trade Finance, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Market Risk, Operational Risk and Insurance. • Design and implementation of finance and risk mitigation structures in partnership with Banks, insurance companies, collateral managers, with the objective of maximizing business opportunities while minimizing risks. • In charge of coordination and organization of Group Executive Risk Committee. • Main achievements include a) purchase, process redesign and implementation of a best in class Credit Management System ($5m Capex), b) building sound teams, c) design and implementation of Credit Policy and Procedures, d) design and implementation of netting agreements which resulted in +$70m balance sheet protection, and e) successful navigation through several corporate changes including the spin off from Noble Group, acquisition by Cofco Corporation and later merger with Nidera BV.
