About

Co-founder of sport for positive impact non-profit Surf Cerrito, my experience lies in leading and supporting community-led initiatives working towards systems change. My work ranges from local: group facilitation, programme co-design and community outreach, to global: the creation of global networks, designing and delivering international events and driving forwards ambitious fundraising campaigns. I work to connect people, organisations and systems across lines that divide, towards futures we will all be proud of.

  • Co-Founder & Director at Surf Cerrito
    Nov 2021 - Dec 2025 · 4 yrs 2 mos

I co-founded Surf Cerrito, a non-profit organisation working with young people from low income backgrounds in the North Peruvian community of Cerrito de la Virgen. We use surfing as a tool for empowerment in a community that has become disconnected from the ocean due to generational trauma surrounding water, lack of opportunities and cultural norms. Since founding the NGO in 2021 during the third year of my languages degree, I have led the organisation as Director and have grown it from a small idea shared with my Co-Founder, local community leader Brayan Hilario, to a community space offering up to five after-school activities a week to over 100 young people, with a team of international volunteers supporting us both in Peru and remotely. During my time as Director, I headed up our fundraising, MEL and programme development efforts, managing both the online and in person volunteering teams, and developing our strategy to continue growing Surf Cerrito to increase our impact within the community and beyond.

  • Fundraising and Communications Manager at Sol y Luna Foundation
    Feb 2024 - Jun 2024 · 5 mos

The Sol y Luna Foundation works with children born into extreme poverty from communities across the Sacred Valley, Peru, providing education, a home and support for those with disabilities. During my time as the Fundraising and Communications Manager I led the organisation of the Foundation's first fundraising event in Lima, a gala dinner for 100 people, which included a live auction. Other fundraising actions included managing all donor communications, onboarding new sponsors, conducting tours of the school and donor analysis. As part of my work on the communications of the Foundation, I launched a quarterly newsletter, managed the social media, and reached out to potential sponsors and donors. I also coordinated actions of the board, took the lead on the ambassador programme, and created the structure for the quarterly board meeting.
